A new and exciting opportunity has arisen for a Chief Marine Engineer located in Portsmouth.

Working within Test & Commissioning for a Qualified Chief Marine Engineer working as part of the Test & Commissioning team on a fixed term contract for 16 months, and reporting to the Commissioning Manager you will be required to manage the operation of all marine engineering systems through Setting to Work, Basin Trials and Sea Trials and to lead and train commissioning engineers to operate marine systems.
As a Chief Marine Engineer your main responsibilities will involve:
Deliver safe, competent operation of marine engineering systems in each ship of class during Basin/Sea trials to meet programme.
Deliver safe, competent operation of marine engineering systems during individual ship Upkeep by Operation serials.
Management of T & C Operating Resources for the purpose of Basin/Sea trials and Upkeep by Operation.
Management of Tag Out Procedures during Sea Trials.
Deliver a T & C Marine Engineering Operator training programme to ensure sufficient trained operators are available for Sea Trials.
Evaluate marine engineering system Operating Instructions to ensure safe operation.
Maintain a log of SQEP personnel, qualified for SCC and Auxiliary System watchkeepers.

Your skills and qualifications will ideally include:
Possess an in depth knowledge of Marine Engineering Systems and associated Platform Management Systems.
Experienced in organising and overseeing seagoing engineering operator competency training.
Must hold a Merchant Navy Chief Engineers license.
In depth knowledge in the management, planning and conduct of ship marine engineering systems, power & propulsion at sea.
Excellent man management skills and extensive leadership in a multi disciplined marine engineering seagoing environment.
Strong commitment and self motivation.
Ability to manage a seagoing team of multi skilled engineering operators for the purpose of safe ship operation.
Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills with proven ability to communicate verbally and in writing at senior level.
Must have a strong personal commitment to SHE
