An opportunity has arisen for a Head of Engineering Projects at Basildon, responsible for the EO & Naval and UAS LoBs. Key responsibilities will include:
Engineering Project budget management, including approval of all engineering costs and solutions associated with bids and proposals.
Co-ordinating the engineering input into the programme group, ensuring that the scope of work is defined, scheduled, tracked, risks & dependencies are identified, mitigation plans exist and product safety requirements are met.
Delivery of the Engineering solution for each technical proposal or bid in line with the Project plans.
Co-ordinating and deploying product development plans for the area.
Ensuring that lessons learnt are recognised and flowed out across the Business leading to Process Improvement.
Providing support to procurement in make/buy decisions and input to contract status reviews, design reviews and phase gate reviews.
Ensure UPC, DFM, mass, power and system interface requirements are managed.
Coach and mentor Project Engineering Managers / Leaders, other direct reportees and engineering teams, act as role model for appropriate behaviours.
Work with peers and functional managers to ensure appropriate engineering resources are deployed on all programmes.

The successful candidate will have a proven ability to manage and motivate large, multi-discipline teams and establish and maintain good relations with customers and suppliers. Furthermore, the candidate should be a pro-active, team player with a resilient and can-do attitude. Degree educated with an Engineering discipline
In addition, the successful candidate must have experience of:
The engineering development lifecycles, phase and peer reviews
Writing and executing detailed engineering development plans
The application of DFM principles in the development phase for LEAN manufacturing
Executive grade will be dependent on individual's experience.
